Sleep Disorders

Meaning

A broad category of clinical conditions characterized by disturbances in the quality, timing, or duration of sleep, or by abnormal behaviors occurring during sleep. These disorders, such as insomnia, sleep apnea, and restless legs syndrome, significantly impair daytime function, metabolic health, and hormonal regulation. Chronic sleep disruption is a major physiological stressor that directly impacts the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis and glucose metabolism. Addressing these disorders is a critical step in any hormonal health optimization plan.
