Sleep Depth

Meaning

Sleep Depth quantifies the intensity or restorative quality of sleep, predominantly characterized by the amount of time spent in Slow-Wave Sleep (SWS) or deep Non-Rapid Eye Movement (NREM) sleep stages according to EEG analysis. This stage is critically important because it is when the majority of growth hormone secretion occurs naturally, facilitating necessary tissue repair and metabolic regulation throughout the body. A sufficient depth of sleep is therefore a prerequisite for optimal endocrine function during the following active period.
