Sleep Density

Meaning

Sleep Density is a quantitative measure reflecting the concentration of restorative physiological activity—such as the time spent in slow-wave sleep stages and the associated pulses of anabolic hormones—within a given measured period of time spent asleep. High density implies that the time spent resting is highly efficient for endocrine repair, memory consolidation, and metabolic regulation processes. Low density suggests prolonged, less restorative sleep, even if the total duration appears superficially adequate for recovery needs.
