Skeletal Effects

Meaning

Skeletal effects refer to the physiological changes, both beneficial and detrimental, that occur within the bone tissue matrix and structure as a result of hormonal, metabolic, and mechanical influences. These effects encompass the processes of bone remodeling, which includes the balanced activity of osteoblasts (bone formation) and osteoclasts (bone resorption). In the context of hormonal health, the maintenance of bone mineral density and structural integrity is critically dependent on adequate levels of sex steroids, vitamin D, and parathyroid hormone.
