SIRT3

Meaning

SIRT3, or Sirtuin 3, is a critical nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+)-dependent protein deacetylase enzyme predominantly located within the mitochondria, the cellular powerhouses. This enzyme acts as a master regulator of mitochondrial function, energy homeostasis, and the cell’s adaptive response to metabolic stress and nutrient deprivation. SIRT3 activity is widely recognized as a significant factor in promoting metabolic resilience, enhancing antioxidant defense, and potentially extending healthspan.
