Signal Noise

Meaning

Signal Noise refers to irrelevant or spurious data points within a biological measurement system that obscure the true underlying physiological signal, such as random fluctuations in blood draws or non-specific binding in laboratory assays. In the con of hormonal assessment, noise can lead to misinterpretation of hormone efficacy or subtle changes in receptor activity, resulting in inappropriate clinical adjustments. Reducing noise is prerequisite to achieving high-fidelity physiological insight. We must distinguish biological truth from measurement artifact.
