Signal Fidelity in an endocrine context refers to the accuracy and integrity with which a hormonal signal is transmitted from its source, through circulation, to the target cell receptor, and subsequently translated into the correct intracellular response. High fidelity means the signal received perfectly matches the signal intended, leading to appropriate physiological outcomes without noise or interference. Low fidelity, conversely, suggests issues like receptor downregulation, antagonism, or metabolic degradation that distort the original message. We strive for high signal fidelity for optimal endocrine performance.
