Signal Degradation, in the context of hormonal health, refers to the physiological process where the fidelity, magnitude, or duration of an endocrine or neural message is diminished as it travels from its origin to its target receptor. This degradation can occur at multiple points, including impaired hormone synthesis, excessive binding to carrier proteins, reduced receptor density or sensitivity, or inefficient intracellular transduction. The clinical consequence is a suboptimal biological response despite adequate circulating hormone levels, leading to symptoms of deficiency or resistance.
