Senomorphic Therapy

Meaning

Senomorphic Therapy is a novel class of therapeutic interventions specifically designed to alter the phenotype and function of senescent, or aging, cells without necessarily causing their immediate death. Senescent cells accumulate with age, secrete a harmful mix of pro-inflammatory molecules known as the Senescence-Associated Secretory Phenotype (SASP), and drive chronic inflammation and tissue dysfunction. The goal of senomorphic agents is to suppress the SASP, thereby mitigating the detrimental systemic effects of cellular aging and improving the function of surrounding tissues. This approach is a key strategy in modern longevity medicine.
