Senomorphic

Meaning

Senomorphic is a term describing compounds or therapeutic strategies that specifically aim to alter or modulate the process of cellular senescence, thereby promoting cellular health and delaying age-related tissue decline. Unlike senolytics, which selectively destroy senescent cells, senomorphics work by changing the phenotype of senescent cells, specifically suppressing the secretion of the harmful senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP). This crucial modulation is designed to reduce chronic, low-grade systemic inflammation and mitigate the tissue dysfunction associated with biological aging.
