Seminal Vesicles

Meaning

The seminal vesicles are a pair of glandular organs in the male reproductive system situated posterior to the urinary bladder, responsible for producing a significant portion of the fluid component of semen. These glands secrete a viscous, yellowish fluid rich in fructose, which serves as the primary energy source for sperm motility, along with prostaglandins and clotting factors. The functional activity and secretory output of the seminal vesicles are directly dependent upon adequate androgenic stimulation, particularly from testosterone. Their health is an important indicator of overall male hormonal and reproductive vitality.
