Semen Quality Parameters

Meaning

Semen Quality Parameters are a standardized set of quantitative and qualitative metrics used in clinical andrology to assess the functional capacity and overall health of a male’s ejaculate, serving as a primary indicator of fertility potential. These parameters include seminal fluid characteristics, such as volume and viscosity, alongside critical sperm-specific data, including concentration, total motility (progressive and non-progressive), and morphology (the percentage of normally formed sperm). Deviation from established reference values indicates potential testicular or endocrine dysfunction.
