Selectivity Index

Meaning

The Selectivity Index (SI) is a critical quality control metric used during Adrenal Vein Sampling (AVS) to verify that the blood sample collected via the catheter is truly from the adrenal vein and not merely a diluted sample from the surrounding systemic circulation. It is a necessary calculation to ensure the technical success and diagnostic accuracy of the procedure. An acceptable SI is paramount for the reliable interpretation of the Lateralization Index.
