SCN Command

Meaning

SCN Command is a concise clinical reference to the master regulatory signal that originates from the Suprachiasmatic Nucleus (SCN), a small but critical structure in the hypothalamus that functions as the body’s primary biological clock, or circadian pacemaker. This command is responsible for synchronizing nearly all peripheral biological rhythms, including the crucial sleep-wake cycle, the pulsatile secretion of hormones, and the daily fluctuations in metabolic activity, to the external 24-hour light-dark cycle. It is the fundamental orchestrator of the body’s chronobiology.
