Scalp Microcirculation

Meaning

Scalp microcirculation refers to the intricate network of the smallest blood vessels, including arterioles, capillaries, and venules, located within the dermis and subcutaneous tissue of the scalp. This vascular system is critically responsible for delivering essential oxygen, nutrients, and hormones to the hair follicles and surrounding dermal papilla. The integrity and flow dynamics of this microcirculatory bed are directly correlated with hair follicle health and the progression of certain types of alopecia.
