RWE Guidelines

Meaning

The established regulatory and methodological standards for the systematic collection, analysis, and utilization of Real-World Evidence (RWE) in making informed decisions about drug development, approval, and mandated post-market surveillance. RWE is derived from Real-World Data (RWD), which includes data from electronic health records, insurance claims, patient registries, and emerging sources like wearable devices. These guidelines provide the necessary framework for determining the scientific rigor and acceptability of RWE to supplement or, in specific cases, potentially replace traditional randomized controlled trial (RCT) data.
