Role-Based Access Control

Meaning

Role-Based Access Control, or RBAC, is a security mechanism that restricts system access to authorized users based on their specific job function or assigned organizational role. This administrative and technical safeguard ensures that individuals can only access the data and perform the operations necessary to fulfill their professional duties, thereby limiting the potential for unauthorized disclosure of sensitive information. In the hormonal health and wellness space, RBAC is essential for ensuring that only the wellness coach or the clinical staff can view an employee’s individually identifiable biometric and hormonal test results, while the employer’s HR or management personnel are restricted to only aggregated, de-identified data.
