RFamide-related Peptide

Meaning

RFamide-related Peptides (RFRPs) are a family of neuropeptides characterized by a conserved C-terminal arginine-phenylalanine-amide (RFamide) amino acid sequence, which are centrally involved in the regulation of diverse physiological functions. In the context of hormonal health, the most clinically significant RFRPs function as potent, central inhibitors of the reproductive axis. They are now recognized as critical, upstream modulators of the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Gonadal (HPG) axis.
