Retrospective Cohort Study

Meaning

A Retrospective Cohort Study is an observational research design where investigators identify a group of individuals based on their past exposure status and then ascertain outcomes that have already occurred. This method involves looking backward in time to collect data from existing records or historical information, allowing for the examination of associations between prior exposures and subsequent health events. It is distinct from prospective studies which follow participants forward from exposure.
