Restorative Physiological Phases

Meaning

Restorative Physiological Phases are the distinct periods of the sleep cycle, primarily Slow-Wave Sleep (SWS) and to a lesser extent REM sleep, during which the body executes its most critical repair and maintenance functions. These phases are characterized by a profound decrease in metabolic rate, a surge in anabolic hormone secretion, and peak activity of brain waste clearance mechanisms. They are the essential periods for cellular and systemic regeneration. These phases are non-negotiable for long-term health.
