Resolvins

Meaning

Resolvins are specialized pro-resolving lipid mediators, endogenously synthesized from omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids like eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). These potent molecules play a critical role in the active resolution phase of inflammation, distinct from merely suppressing inflammatory responses. Their primary function is to orchestrate the cessation of acute inflammation and promote tissue healing, ensuring the return to physiological homeostasis.
