Resilience and Fortitude

Meaning

A combined measure of an organism’s physiological capacity to rapidly return to a stable homeostatic state following exposure to physical or psychological stress, coupled with the enduring mental strength to maintain function under duress. Resilience refers to the speed of biological recovery, while fortitude describes the sustained psychological endurance. These two attributes are inextricably linked and represent the core markers of a robust, optimized human system.
