Reproductive System De-Suppression

Meaning

Reproductive System De-Suppression is a clinical strategy aimed at restoring the normal function of the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Gonadal (HPG) axis following a period of suppression, which is often induced by exogenous hormone administration or chronic physiological stress. The objective is to encourage the pituitary gland to resume the secretion of Luteinizing Hormone (LH) and Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH), thereby stimulating endogenous gonadal hormone production. This is a critical step in managing the transition off certain hormonal therapies.
