Repetition Maximum

Meaning

Repetition Maximum, often abbreviated as RM, is a fundamental metric in exercise physiology and clinical strength assessment, defined as the maximal amount of weight or resistance an individual can lift for a specified number of repetitions with proper form. The 1-Repetition Maximum (1RM) represents absolute strength, while higher-repetition RMs are used to assess strength endurance and guide training volume. In a hormonal health context, tracking RM progression is a key indicator of anabolic drive and neuromuscular function.
