Receptor-Level Interference

Meaning

Receptor-level interference describes a condition where the normal cellular response to a hormone, neurotransmitter, or other signaling molecule is diminished or blocked at the point of cellular reception. This occurs even when the signaling molecule itself is present in appropriate concentrations within the circulation, indicating a problem with the cell’s ability to properly detect or process the signal rather than a deficiency of the signal itself.
