Ras/MAPK Pathway

Meaning

The Ras/MAPK pathway, also known as the Mitogen-Activated Protein Kinase pathway, is a critical intracellular signaling cascade that transduces external stimuli, such as growth factors and hormones, from the cell surface to the nucleus. This fundamental pathway regulates essential cellular processes including proliferation, differentiation, survival, and gene expression. Dysregulation of this cascade is frequently implicated in various pathologies, including endocrine-related cancers and growth disorders. It serves as a central hub for relaying extracellular signals.
