RANKL Inhibitor

Meaning

A RANKL inhibitor is a class of medication blocking the biological activity of Receptor Activator of Nuclear factor Kappa-B Ligand (RANKL), a protein crucial for osteoclast formation, function, and survival. These agents directly bind to RANKL, preventing its interaction with its receptor, RANK, found on osteoclast precursors and mature osteoclasts. This targeted inhibition effectively reduces bone resorption, contributing to bone density.
