RANK Ligand

Meaning

RANK Ligand (Receptor Activator of Nuclear factor kappa-B Ligand) is a key protein factor essential for the formation, function, and survival of osteoclasts, the cells responsible for bone resorption. As a member of the TNF superfamily, this protein acts as a critical signaling molecule in the skeletal system, linking bone remodeling to hormonal status, particularly estrogen levels. Targeting RANK Ligand activity is a cornerstone of modern pharmacologic therapy for osteoporosis.
