Radiation-Induced Liver Disease

Meaning

Radiation-Induced Liver Disease (RILD) is a clinical syndrome of non-malignant liver injury from therapeutic radiation exposure. It typically presents with anicteric hepatomegaly, ascites, and elevated serum alkaline phosphatase, weeks to months after radiation therapy. RILD represents a significant dose-limiting toxicity in treating abdominal and hepatic malignancies.
