PvuII and XbaI

Meaning

PvuII and XbaI are two specific restriction endonucleases, which are enzymes derived from bacteria that recognize and cleave DNA at precise, distinct recognition sequences. In the context of hormonal health, these enzymes are clinically relevant because they were historically used to identify specific polymorphisms, or variations, within the human Estrogen Receptor alpha (ERα) gene. These variations, often detected as Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphisms (RFLPs), are associated with differential responsiveness to estrogen and risk for hormone-related conditions.
