Purity and Potency

Meaning

Purity and Potency are two distinct yet inseparable critical quality attributes used to define the safety and effectiveness of any therapeutic agent, including hormonal compounds. Purity quantifies the absence of foreign or unwanted substances, such as impurities and contaminants, ensuring the active ingredient is unadulterated. Potency, conversely, measures the intrinsic biological activity or strength of the drug, confirming it will elicit the intended physiological response at the prescribed dose.
