Pulsatile Therapy

Meaning

Pulsatile therapy is a specialized drug administration method designed to precisely mimic the body’s natural, rhythmic, and intermittent release pattern of certain endogenous hormones or signaling molecules. This therapeutic approach involves administering a medication in distinct, short bursts with periods of rest, rather than a continuous infusion or steady-state dose. Clinically, it is most notably used to restore fertility by administering Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone (GnRH) in a pulsatile fashion to correctly stimulate the pituitary gland.
