Pulsatile Gonadorelin

Meaning

Pulsatile Gonadorelin refers to the clinical administration of Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone (GnRH), also known as Gonadorelin, in a rhythmic, intermittent fashion that precisely mimics the natural secretory pattern of the hypothalamus. This specific delivery method is crucial because continuous exposure to GnRH causes receptor desensitization and suppression of the pituitary-gonadal axis, while pulsatile delivery stimulates the pituitary gland to release Luteinizing Hormone (LH) and Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH). It is primarily used to restore or initiate endogenous hormone production in cases of hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, supporting fertility and natural testosterone or estrogen levels.
