PT-141 Peptide

Meaning

A synthetic melanocortin peptide, also known as Bremelanotide, that functions as a non-selective agonist of melanocortin receptors, specifically $text{MC}_{text{3}}$ and $text{MC}_{text{4}}$ receptors, within the central nervous system. Unlike traditional treatments that target peripheral vascular mechanisms, this peptide acts centrally to modulate sexual arousal and desire. It is clinically utilized for the treatment of hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD) in premenopausal women.
