Pseudogynecomastia

Meaning

Pseudogynecomastia is a clinical condition in males characterized by the enlargement of the breast area due to the localized accumulation of excess adipose tissue, without true proliferation of the glandular breast tissue. This condition is distinct from true gynecomastia, which involves glandular hyperplasia typically driven by a hormonal imbalance, such as an elevated estrogen-to-androgen ratio. Differential diagnosis often requires physical examination or imaging to distinguish fat from glandular tissue.
