Prostatic Fibrosis

Meaning

Prostatic Fibrosis is the pathological process involving the excessive and disorganized accumulation of extracellular matrix components, primarily collagen, within the prostate gland, leading to tissue stiffening and architectural distortion. This condition contributes significantly to the symptoms of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) and is a key pathological feature of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and chronic prostatitis. The resultant structural changes impair the gland’s normal compliance and ability to contract, obstructing urine flow.
