Prostate Malignancy

Meaning

Prostate malignancy, clinically referred to as prostate cancer, is the uncontrolled proliferation of abnormal cells originating in the glandular tissue of the prostate gland. This disease is the most common non-skin cancer in men and its clinical significance ranges from indolent, slow-growing tumors to aggressive, metastatic disease. Hormonal regulation, specifically the action of androgens, is central to the initiation and progression of most prostate cancers. Early detection and accurate risk stratification are paramount for determining the appropriate course of management and preserving long-term health.
