Prostate Function

Meaning

Prostate Function refers to the collective physiological roles of the prostate gland, a small, walnut-sized exocrine gland in the male reproductive system. Its primary function is the secretion of a fluid, rich in enzymes and zinc, that nourishes and protects sperm, contributing significantly to semen volume and motility. This function is critically dependent on androgenic stimulation, particularly from testosterone and its potent metabolite, dihydrotestosterone (DHT), which govern the gland’s growth and secretory activity.
