Prostate Cancer Survivors

Meaning

Prostate Cancer Survivors are individuals who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer and remain alive, encompassing the period from the time of diagnosis through the balance of their life. This definition includes those currently undergoing treatment, those who have completed treatment, and those living with stable, non-progressing disease. The survivor experience is complex, involving ongoing surveillance, management of treatment side effects, and addressing long-term quality of life issues. Due to the hormone-centric nature of the disease and its treatments, survivors often face unique hormonal health challenges, including issues related to testosterone deficiency and its systemic consequences.
