Prostate Cancer

Meaning

Prostate Cancer is a malignancy arising from the cells of the prostate gland, a small gland in the male reproductive system located below the bladder. It is one of the most common cancers in men, characterized by the uncontrolled growth of epithelial cells, often forming slow-growing tumors. Because the prostate is an androgen-dependent organ, the disease is profoundly influenced by the hormonal environment, particularly by circulating testosterone and its metabolite, dihydrotestosterone (DHT).
