Proportion of Days Covered

Meaning

Proportion of Days Covered (PDC) is a widely used metric in pharmacoepidemiology and clinical adherence studies that quantifies the extent to which a patient is covered by a supply of medication over a specified period. It is calculated by dividing the number of days a patient has medication available by the total number of days in the measurement interval. A high PDC, typically 80% or greater, is often used as a surrogate measure for medication adherence in clinical research and quality metrics.
