Prolactin Levels

Meaning

Prolactin Levels denote the quantifiable concentration of the pituitary hormone prolactin in the circulating plasma, typically measured in nanograms per milliliter. Prolactin is a peptide hormone primarily associated with lactation, but it also influences reproductive function, immune regulation, and behavior in both males and females. Abnormally elevated levels, a condition known as hyperprolactinemia, can lead to clinical manifestations such as galactorrhea, amenorrhea, and hypogonadism.
