Progenitor Cell Mobilization

Meaning

Progenitor Cell Mobilization is the physiological process whereby quiescent stem or progenitor cells, typically resident in the bone marrow niche, are signaled to detach and enter the peripheral circulation. This mobilization is a prerequisite for tissue repair mechanisms that require the systemic delivery of regenerative cellular populations to sites of damage or senescence. Clinical application seeks to enhance this endogenous repair capacity. We assess factors that govern the release kinetics of these precursor cells.
