The scientific study and clinical application of interventions designed to decrease the phenomenon of presenteeism, defined as attending work while ill, fatigued, or mentally preoccupied, leading to reduced productivity and increased error rates. This field focuses on identifying the underlying physiological and psychological drivers, such as chronic pain, poor sleep, or hormonal imbalance, that diminish an individual’s functional capacity while physically present. Effective reduction is a metric of genuine workplace health.
