Precautionary Policy Implementation

Meaning

Precautionary Policy Implementation is the application of the Precautionary Principle—which states that if a product or action has a suspected risk of causing harm to the public or the environment, protective action should be taken even if there is no scientific consensus on the precise nature or magnitude of the risk—to public health and environmental regulations. In hormonal health, this means restricting or eliminating the use of suspected endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) before conclusive, long-term human data is available. It is a proactive stance on chemical burden reduction.
