Pre-Sleep Thermal Load

Meaning

Pre-Sleep Thermal Load refers to the body’s internal heat content or the external thermal input applied to the body in the period immediately preceding the intended time of sleep onset. Clinically, this term is often used to describe the strategic application of heat, such as through a warm bath or sauna, with the goal of facilitating the subsequent, rapid drop in core body temperature required for sleep initiation. Managing this thermal load is a non-pharmacological strategy for improving sleep latency.
