Pre-Existing Cardiac Conditions

Meaning

Pre-Existing Cardiac Conditions refer to any cardiovascular disease, structural abnormality, or functional impairment of the heart and blood vessels that a patient has been diagnosed with prior to the initiation of a new therapeutic regimen, such as hormone replacement therapy. These conditions include, but are not limited to, documented coronary artery disease, clinically significant arrhythmias, congestive heart failure, or a history of prior myocardial infarction. A thorough, comprehensive clinical assessment of these conditions is an absolute prerequisite before prescribing medications that possess the potential to affect cardiac function or increase the risk of thrombosis.
