Pre-Analytical Stability

Meaning

Pre-Analytical Stability refers to the ability of a biological analyte, such as a hormone, peptide, or metabolite, to maintain its original concentration and chemical integrity within the collected specimen from the moment of collection until the start of the analytical testing phase. Maintaining stability is a function of time, temperature, and the chemical environment of the collection tube. For sensitive biomarkers in hormonal health, ensuring stability is crucial to prevent degradation that would otherwise lead to a false clinical interpretation.
