PR-A and PR-B Receptors

Meaning

Progesterone Receptor-A (PR-A) and Progesterone Receptor-B (PR-B) are distinct isoforms of the intracellular progesterone receptor, crucial for mediating the biological actions of the hormone progesterone. Both isoforms originate from the same gene through alternative transcriptional initiation, with PR-B representing the full-length receptor and PR-A being a truncated version that lacks 164 amino acids at its N-terminus.
