PP2A Modulation

Meaning

PP2A modulation refers to the intentional alteration of the enzymatic activity of Protein Phosphatase 2A (PP2A), a major serine/threonine phosphatase that plays a critical role in regulating a vast array of cellular processes, including cell cycle progression, signal transduction, and apoptosis. PP2A acts to remove phosphate groups from target proteins, effectively opposing the action of kinases and thereby regulating the activation state of numerous signaling pathways. Modulation, whether activation or inhibition, is a therapeutic strategy aimed at correcting dysregulated cellular signaling often implicated in metabolic disorders, neurodegeneration, and hormonal resistance.
